About the alphabet
- Letters

- Chance of each
- 3.85%
- Vowels
- 5
- Consonants
- 21
The alphabet on this page has 26 letters, so each one has a 3.85% chance of being drawn. 5 of them are vowels and 21 are consonants, which is why “vowels only” is a much shorter game than the whole alphabet.
Good to know
What is a random letter for?
Naming rounds (“a country beginning with…”), choosing a team, setting an alliteration task, picking the spelling group of the week. It is the same draw as the dice, with the alphabet as the faces.
Why does the alphabet change with the language?
Because it is data, not decoration: the English page draws from 26 letters, the Spanish one from 27 with Ñ, and the Russian one from 33. The counts and the odds on each page are computed from that page’s own alphabet.
Can I stop a letter coming up twice?
Turn off repeats and the letters already drawn are set aside and listed underneath, so a class can work through the alphabet once. Clear starts it over.
